Sour Cream Pound Cake

3 cups plain flour, sift 3 times
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
6 eggs
3 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring

Cream butter and sugar. Add one egg at a time and beat well after each one.  Beat in vanilla with last egg.  Sift flour, baking powder, and baking soda together three times.  Add flour mixture, alternate with sour cream starting and ending with flour.
Grease and flour a tube pan, then put batter in pan.  Place pan in a cold oven.  Set oven at 300 degrees and cook for 2 hours.  Let cool in pan before removing from pan.
